Granite rock face and canyon ridgeline — outdoor experiential therapy at Recovery Republic

The Program — Venice Beach, California

Ninety days for men
who are ready to change.

What makes this different

Structured clinical treatment. Experiential living. Real accountability.

Most men leaving residential treatment face the same gap: no longer in a facility, not yet ready for independent life. Recovery Republic was built to close it. Twenty hours of weekly programming, split evenly between clinical treatment and experiential activity, with clear expectations around meeting attendance, screening, and accountability. Nobody is locked in. You can walk the boardwalk and go surfing — inside a structure that makes those freedoms mean something. This is a treatment program that happens to sit in one of the most inspiring places in California.

The space

Our clinical space sits a few blocks from the sand in Venice — light, quiet, and built for the work. Group process happens in the circle. Individual therapy happens behind a closed door. Nothing about it feels institutional.

How it works

Ninety days of structured daily living, clinical treatment, and experiential activity in Venice Beach. The work is to identify and disrupt the patterns that led here, build habits that hold, and establish a clinical team that will support recovery long after day ninety.

What the ninety days include

  • 10 hours of weekly clinical programming — individual therapy, psychotherapy, and groups
  • 10 hours of weekly experiential programming — outdoor and adventure therapy
  • Individual recovery coaching, up to five hours per week
  • Psychiatric medication management with health and wellness modalities
  • Minimum four support group meetings per week (AA or an approved equivalent)
  • Daily accountability check-ins and weekly drug screening
  • Transportation to all clinical and medical appointments
  • Employment support beginning in Month 2
  • Bi-monthly outdoor expeditions
  • Family therapy begins in Week 6 with a dedicated therapist for the remaining 6 weeks

What's inside

Every component addresses a specific dimension of recovery — clinical, behavioral, physical, social, and vocational.

Individual therapy

Each client works one-on-one with a dedicated therapist. Month one begins with three individual sessions a week, month two moves to 2 sessions, and month three tapers to 1 session — 24 sessions in total, intentionally decreasing so independence grows as the work deepens. The focus is trauma, maladaptive patterns, and the mental health underneath the addiction — building the self-awareness and coping tools recovery actually requires.

Psychiatry & medication management

A licensed physician oversees each medication plan, reviewing it weekly early in treatment and monthly thereafter, in close coordination with the therapy team.

Family therapy

Starting in Week 6, each family is matched with their own therapist for the remaining six weeks. Sessions can include the client or happen privately with family members alone — whatever the family needs to heal patterns, rebuild trust, and learn how to support recovery without losing themselves in it.

Recovery coaching

Every client is paired with a recovery coach for up to five one-on-one hours a week: goal setting, daily routines, financial management, credit repair, job placement, relationships, and long-term planning.

Experiential & outdoor therapy

Ten hours a week of surfing, hiking, rock climbing, and nature therapy. These build confidence, resilience, and the kind of genuine enjoyment that sustains sobriety long after treatment ends.

12-step work & support groups

A minimum of four meetings a week. The program is not exclusively 12-step, but peer-led recovery communities remain among the most effective long-term support systems there are.

Employment assistance

Recovery without purpose is fragile. From Month 2 on, clients get dedicated help exploring job paths, building resumes, preparing for interviews, and getting hired.

This is a strong fit if

  • You are an adult male committed to a 90-day program
  • You have completed detox or are medically cleared for treatment
  • You are seeking a cash-pay option with individualized clinical care
  • You want structure and accountability without feeling institutionalized
  • You are ready to work on employment, relationships, and life skills
  • You value community and peer support as part of recovery

It may not be the right fit if

  • You require medical detox — we will refer you to detox services first
  • You are seeking a short-term or insurance-only program
  • You are not prepared to commit to daily programming and accountability
  • Outdoor activity is not something you favor

Being honest

Take the first step. We'll walk you through the rest.

This is not a detox, and it is not for men who need twenty-four-hour medical supervision. Recovery Republic of California provides clinical services only — clients live independently for the length of the program. Call and we will answer your questions, walk you through what to expect, and tell you honestly whether this is the right fit.
